HOW I WORK
I work as an integrative counsellor – which means I use thoughts and ideas from different therapy models including both the humanistic (person-centred) and psychodynamic theories. My approach is client led, thus my response is unique to each client. In working as a psychotherapeutic counsellor I place importance on the relationship between my client and myself - working both collaboratively and relationally - this forms a vital and dynamic part of our work together.
I offer a warm, friendly, compassionate and confidential space to explore what it is that brings you to counselling. My aim is to help create opportunities that will facilitate change and healing. Therapy not only provides an opportunity to work through difficulties but it can also be about celebrating strengths and seeking self-compassion.
“The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance… provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another”.” (Carl R. Rogers)
Practical Details
At our first/assessment session (an hour long) we can discuss what brings you to therapy and what you feel you need from our sessions. It is a time to explore how comfortable we are together, and if agreed, organise a suitable time for weekly counselling sessions. These are usually 50 minutes. I offer both short and long term therapy.
Online Counselling
I offer online counselling as well, via Zoom, Skype, Whatsapp or telephone. I offer this service both locally and for people /clients living on the Isle of Man. I will however, only see young people face to face.
Fees
My fee is £60 per 50 minute session.
I do offer a couple of concessionary places - these are currently full.
